Non-Functional Lead

The Non-functional Lead is the team leader of the non-functional team, from both a hierarchical and functional perspective, and he/she has a solid experience/background in infrastructure (and networking). He/she is providing/assigning resources to Test Coordinators regarding the activities related to non-functional testing for the client.

The Lead is responsible for ensuring that both the methodological and technical competencies of his team members are maintained and developed by following and applying the client’s knowledge and training approach. The Non-functional Lead is also responsible for the Configuration Management related to the configuration of the specific CBS/System test environment.


  • Team leader of the non-functional testing team; and reporting to the Sr. Test Coordinator.
  • Ensure the adherence to processes, procedures, and work instructions of team members
  • Ensure that team members are trained, and that required training is foreseen and scheduled in due time.
  • Management of test requests from the Test Coordinators
  • Organise the NF test design specifications for his team and assign appropriate tasks to team members
  • Organise execution of test campaign (manual and automated) with the Test Coordinators and the other Team Leaders
  • Support to the Test Engineers of the execution of the test campaigns;
  • Support of the Test Engineers to design test scenarios to ensure acceptable coverage of requirements;
  • Support and manage the defects detected during the execution in collaboration with the Test Coordinators
  • Report on the consolidated test results.
  • Work in close collaboration with the TestDev Lead for organizing the automation of the test cases and the maintenance of the existing automated test scripts
  • Responsible for Configuration Management related to the testing environment (input & output)
  • Responsible to verify the performance of team members and quality of their work,
  • Responsible in collaboration with the respective Test Coordinator to monitor the effort and workload achieved versus timeline and overall allocated effort.
  • Escalate issue and problems to Sr. Test Coordinator as soon as they occur; ideally by providing suggestions for mitigation and/or solutions

Knowledge and skills

  • Proven experience with testing technologies and tools (e.g., Automation Testing tools (e.g., TOSCA), Test Management tool (TOSCA, ALM, Qtest), Performance Testing tools (JMeter), Requirements and Defect Management tools (Jira), Test Execution Monitoring tools (Splunk), etc.);
  • Knowledge of software development and testing methodology (ISTQB, ITIL, Prince 2/PMI, Agile)
  • Keen interest on quality and intense attention to detail;
  • Ability to analyze results of testing correctly and to report on them efficiently;
  • Knowledge of software development and testing methodologies;
  • Capacity in writing documents;
  • Good communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with development team;
  • Experience and willingness of working in an international/multicultural environment.

Experience and good knowledge in infrastructure and networking. It is mandatory to have experience related to:

  • Robustness/Resilience Tests
  • Network/Connectivity Tests
  • Penetration Testing
  • Business Recovery Testing/Disaster Recovery Testing
  • Power Supply tests

 It is highly desirable to have some experience related to:

  • Performance Tests
  • Soak Tests
  • Integration Testing
  • Stress Tests
  • Mobile applications tests
  • Website tests

Required experience 

  • University degree (master or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant IT experience 
  • Minimum 4 years of automated and manual software testing experience, and experience with Automation Testing tools (e.g., TOSCA), Test Management tool (TOSCA, Qtest), Requirements and Defect Management tools (Jira), Test Execution Monitoring tools (Splunk). 

Summary of mandatory requirements

  • Experience: University degree (master or equivalent) in a relevant subject + Minimum 6 years of relevant IT experience and minimum 4 years of automated and manual software testing experience
  • Languages: English ++ French a very strong asset
  • Start: This is a freelance position. We are looking for freelancers that are able to start ASAP
