DB2 LUW Consultant

Tasks

  • System instance installation 
  • Create or modify application database objects through data definition language (DDL) scripts that shall be delivered 
  • Upload data into application databases following procedures that shall be delivered
  • Migrate data between old and new versions of the application databases executing procedures that shall be delivered
  • Prepare and schedule data migration procedures between old and new versions of the application databases
  • Hand-over new databases
  • Set up back ups
  • Monitor the mailboxes / JIRA 
  • Monitor incident system
  • Report database performance and communicate 
  • Performance improvement changes
  • Deliver the information requested by client
  • Deliver DBA expertise
  • Prepare information on the set up of the RDBMS’ infrastructure
  • Restore logical or physical RDBMS components
  • Apply emergency security and stability patches
  • Apply routine maintenance upgrades
  • Apply system version upgrades 
  • Apply product version upgrades 
  • Perform periodical health check-up exercises 
  • Decommission databases
  • Decommission system instances 
  • Set-up and scheduling of housekeeping scripts to reorganize 
  • Set-up and scheduling of backup scripts
  • Perform a periodical test database recovery exercise 
  • Restore a full production backup into a test sandbox every 6 months
  • Restore data from production into development environments for testing purposes
  • Priority 1 Incidents 
  • Priority 2 Incidents 
  • Production changes 

Requirements

  • DB2/LUW DBA with 5 + years of experience in supporting production and development environments.
  • English C1
  • Customer facing
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Capable of working independently
  • Keep calm under pressurized conditions
  • Experience in Operating highly critical production systems
  • Working in shifts (cover between 07:00-19:00)
  • Working in a virtual team, but still work well and in a disciplined manner with minimal supervision
  • Working in weekends when required and on-call (on rota basis)
  • Ability and willingness to strictly follow procedures and customer process

Desirable

  • Hands on experience with database partitioning and preferably also Purescale.
  • Experience in Architecture and DB2 design.
  • Experience of CDC.
  • Experience in Linux platform design.
  • Experience of DB2 zOS, especially DB2 zOS -> DB2 LUW migrations.

  • Start: This is a freelance position. We are looking for freelancers that are able to start ASAP
