Application Architect - Java

Exciting new opportunity as Application Architect - JAVA

On the technical side, we develop applications following the Object Oriented Programming paradigm, including usage of design patterns. We develop our applications in Java Enterprise (JEE) or Spring Framework, and we use beans, dependency injection, persistence, transactions, messaging, and web services. We use intensively JPA, Hibernate, JDBC and JMS.

On the front-end side, we use the eUI building block, while developments are done using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and Angular. We chose Oracle Weblogic and Wildfly as application servers, and Oracle RDBMS and PostgreSQL as database engines. Sometimes we write part of the code in PL/SQL. We design and implement web-services (SOAP, REST) and use XLM standards like XSD, XSLT.

You will participate in a friendly environment. You will develop your skills in the context of the work domain and you will be required to follow regular trainings.

Change management processes are controlled in an existing JIRA instance.

  • Installation, deployment and configuration of information systems
  • Follow-up of incidents related to information systems (3rd level support)
  • Follow-up of bug reports
  • Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
  • Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting
  • Coaching of more junior architects and developers. Review of the work done by others, critical assessment, recommendations and follow up of those recommendations.


Knowledge and skills

  • At least 5 working experiences with Object Oriented Programming and design patterns
  • At least a well-balanced 5 working experiences in the development and conception of applications, and in particular in the following items:
  • Web application development
    • HTML5
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Angular
  • Java Enterprise (JEE)
    • Spring Framework or similar
    • JPA
    • Hibernate or similar
    • JDBC
    • JMS
  • Application servers:
    • Oracle Weblogic
    • JBoss

  • SQL
  • Oracle RDBMS
  • PostgreSQL or similar

  • Enterprise Architect
  • Good knowledge of building a continuous build pipeline
  • Knowledge of cloud development (Azure or Amazon) is a plus.
  • strong communication skills, including drafting skills and the ability to team work critical thinking
  • dynamic, able to understand others points of view and elaborate on them to find common grounds ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application developments

Knowledge in one of the following areas is an additional plus:

  • Cloud, in particular design of cloud ready applications:
    • Apache Maven
    • X.509 certificates


  • The consultants have to be fluent in English. French is an asset
  • Documents will be written in English

For practical reasons, English is the internal working language while French may be needed for communication with external stakeholders. Any other language is considered and advantage.  We expect our consultants to be able to team work and communicate in such environment, to be strong team players. Good communication skills are critical to the success in this job. You should be able to talk with peers and communicate both in technical and non-technical terms with other colleagues, including business stakeholders. Critical thinking, proactivity and forward looking are compulsory.
