Cyber Security Consultant

We are looking for a freelance experience Cyber Security consultant that excels in risk analysis and has experience with GDPR and LAN / WAN networks.

Our client is looking for a Cyber Security Consultant. We are looking for a candidate for Brussels and one for The Hague.


  • Daily follow-up of security matters on the network.
  • e.g. viewing user profiles for rights they have or do not have
  • whether users are in the correct profile and not in profiles that are not necessary for the job
  • in case of changes in the user, whether the profiles are adjusted correctly or after, for example, 2 weeks.
  • Follow up / solve reports of security about user / pc / server problems with user and local IT.
  • Maintain reporting of local incidents.

risk analysis

  • Make risk analysis for the IT security part of new projects.
  • Analyzing the wishes and the possible risks.
  • Describe how the application works based on accesses, protocols used, user / admin profiles, etc.
  • Make a functional / technical diagram for the risk analysis.
  • Define risks and propose solutions to avoid the risks.
  • Think beyond what the user wants or explain how it works.


  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN level networks. The candidate does not need to make any configurations.
  • Be able to create network schedules.
  • Understand firewalls / proxy operation.
  • Know the protocols used.


  • Knowledge GDPR / privacy issues. Important part of the risk analysis.


  • Follow up internal rules, especially in this function the (Cyber) security part. Follow training / webinars for this part.


  • Extensive experience in Cyber & Network Security
  • Extensive experience in Risk analysis
  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN level networks.
  • Experience creating network diagrams
  • Knowledge firewalls / proxy / protocols
  • Knowledge of GDPR / privacy issues

Language skills

  • For the Netherlands this is Dutch / English. Speaking / writing. We make the RA in English. French is an advantage.
  • For Belgium this is Dutch / French / English. Speaking / writing. We make the RA in French or English.

Soft skills

  • Analytical mind that can synthesize well (to dissect the situation and summarize it to its essence)
  • Rigor, inflexibility, obstinacy, unyielding, stiffness ("Rigueur" is a difficult term to translate)
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Good editorial skills
  • Being able to deal with difficult matters / people. Stress resistant. Show initiative etc.
  • Willing to travel occasionally
  • Team player, not a 9 to 5 type. Willingness to assist the team (support / testing)

Mandatory requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the relevant fields.
  • Languages
    • Dutch location: Fluency in Dutch / Flemish with English (French would be an advantage)
    • Belgium location: Fluency in Dutch / Flemish + English + French
  • This is a freelance position. We are looking for freelancers that are able to start ASAP.
